Split Large Files Into Multiple Smaller Files to Avoid File Size Limitations On Windows 11 Using 7-Zip

You can divide your large files into several smaller ones if you've encountered a file size restriction. The actual huge file can then be obtained by recombining these files. I'll walk you through several methods to accomplish it on your Windows 11 computer.

The 7-Zip program, which is free and open-source, is the simplest way to divide huge files on Windows 11. You may extract several kinds of archives and compress your data using this program. This application allows you to turn a single huge file into several archives.

To accomplish that, access the 7-Zip website in your preferred web browser. After downloading and installing the software, restart your Windows 11 computer.

Next, locate the big file you wish to split by using File Explorer (click Windows+E). Select Show More Options > 7-Zip > Add to Archive with a right-click on the file.

The Add to Archive window will appear. To generate each little file, click the "Split to Volume, Bytes" field and enter its size. For instance, type 10M to make each chunk 10 MB in size.

Configure other options in the same window if you'd like. At the bottom, click "OK."

When you feed 7-Zip a huge file, it will start to create numerous files from it. Those several tiny pieces will be saved in the same directory as the original file. Numbers, such as 001, 002, and so forth, will follow the original file name in the chunks.

Right-click the first chunk (that reads "001") and choose Show More Options > 7-Zip > Extract Files to join these little files again into a single file. Choose the location to save the extracted file in the window that opens, then click "OK."

Make sure all the files are in the same folder if you encounter an error when recombining files. If not, before beginning the extraction procedure, copy and paste them into a single folder.

If you think the above is noteworthy, please share with others so they are aware.
